On November 20, 2008, CW pulled Valentine along with Easy Money. However, the series returned on Sunday, June 28, 2009 to begin burning off the remaining unaired episodes. The show's only season averaged 0.72 million viewers and 0.2 demo in Adults 18-49.

Initially broadcast on February 14, 2002, A Charlie Brown Valentine was the first new Peanuts special since 1994's You're In the Super Bowl, Charlie Brown, and the first to be produced for ABC. All previous specials had aired on CBS, except for You're In the Super Bowl, which was broadcast by NBC. The special was animated and produced by United Feature Syndicate with animation assistance from Toei Animation like all the other specials, and is the first Peanuts special to be co-animated by Gainax. The special was released to DVD and VHS on January 6, 2004. It was also the second television special to revolve around the Valentine's Day holiday, the first being 1975's Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.
