Sleaford Mods: Invisible Britain 2015

Sleaford Mods - Invisible Britain shows the most exciting and uncompromising British band in years sticking two fingers up to the zeitgeist and articulating the rage and desperation of those without a voice in austerity Britain. The film follows Sleaford Mods on a tour of the UK in the run up to the 2015 General Election, visiting the neglected, broken down and boarded up parts of the country that many would prefer to ignore. Part band doc, part look at the state of the nation, the documentary features individuals and communities attempting to find hope among the ruins, against a blistering soundtrack by Sleaford Mods.

Little Britain 2003

Little Britain is a British character-based comedy sketch show which was first broadcast on BBC radio and then turned into a television show. It was written by comic duo David Walliams and Matt Lucas. The show's title is an amalgamation of the terms 'Little England' and 'Great Britain', and is also the name of a Victorian neighbourhood and modern street in London. The show comprises sketches involving exaggerated parodies of British people from all walks of life in various situations familiar to the British. These sketches are presented to the viewer together with narration in a manner which suggests that the programme is a guide—aimed at non-British people—to the ways of life of various classes of British society. Despite the narrator's description of great British institutions, the comedy is derived from the British audience's self-deprecating understanding of either themselves or people known to them.

Britain's Got Talent 2007

Britain's Got Talent is a British television talent show competition which started in June 2007 and originated from the Got Talent franchise. The show is a Thames production distributed by FremantleMedia and is produced in association with Syco TV. The show is broadcast on ITV and its sister show Britain's Got More Talent is broadcast on ITV2. Anyone of any age with some sort of talent can audition for the show. Acts compete against each other in order to gain the audience support while trying to win the title of "The winner of Britain's Got Talent". Each year, on the morning of the first show of the new series, Britain's Got Talent has a special program titled "Most Talented", featuring interviews of the winners from the previous series and their progress since winning. Throughout the show, contestants must perform in front of the judges, and each year initial auditions have been held in front of a live audience. Auditions precede live shows, where the final 40 contestants perform nightly for a week in order to impress the British public. There have been seven winners to date: Paul Potts, George Sampson, Diversity, Spelbound, Jai McDowall, Ashleigh and Pudsey and Attraction. The winner of each series is given the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of members of the British Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II. The winner also receives a cash prize, which from series 1 to 5 was £100,000, but was increased to £500,000 in series 6 and then lowered to £250,000 in series 7. Britain's Got Talent is known as one of Britain's biggest television talent competitions and has also proven popular throughout Europe. The series 3 live final brought in 17.3 million viewers,. On 18 October 2010, ITV announced that Cowell had signed a new three-year contract renewing Britain's Got Talent until 2013. He then announced on the final episode of Britain's Got More Talent in 2013 that he had renewed the show again until 2014.

Little Britain USA 2008

Little Britain USA is an American spin-off-continuation of British sketch show, Little Britain, produced and aired by HBO. As in the British series, Matt Lucas and David Walliams play the majority of the characters: originals such as Lou and Andy, Daffyd Thomas, Sebastian Love, Marjorie Dawes and Vicky Pollard, as well as new characters not previously seen in the British series. The first series started filming in March 2008 in Wilmington, North Carolina. HBO showed the first episode of the season in the United States on September 28, 2008; The Movie Network broadcast it in Canada the same day, followed by BBC One on October 3 in the UK. New guest-stars include Rachael Harris, Bob Stephenson, Paul Rudd, Hilarie Burton, Vivica A. Fox, and Sting. Michael Patrick Jann served as executive producer of the series and directed the majority of the shows. David Schwimmer directed studio-based segments of the show. Rosie O'Donnell also makes an appearance in a "Fat Fighters" segment. The series was released on DVD in the UK by 2entertain in August 2009.

That's Britain!

That's Britain! is a 2011 British television series which takes a light-hearted look at aspects of modern life which frustrate and infuriate people. Presented by Nick Knowles and Julia Bradbury the series first aired on BBC One at 8pm from 23 November - 14 December 2011. The first series comprises four episodes. Topics covered in the show centre around every day issues, such as hospital parking charges, roadworks and overcrowded trains, with subjects being investigated by celebrity guests. For example, in the first episode the television presenter Grainne Seoige took a look at junk mail and comedian Ade Edmondson reported on the process of handling airport luggage. Another feature of the programme is Talk to the Wall whereby viewers are invited to contact the show with the topics which most annoy them. The most popular are then displayed on a wall in the form of a word cloud.

Made in Britain

Made in Britain is a 1983 British television play written by David Leland, and directed by Alan Clarke, about a 16-year-old racist skinhead named Trevor, and his constant confrontations with authority figures. It was originally broadcast on ITV on 10 July 1983 as the fourth in an untitled series of works by Leland, all loosely based around the British educational system, which subsequently acquired the overall title of Tales Out of School. As with many Alan Clarke works, the director attempts to depict English working-class life, realistically without moralising or complex plots. The play features strong language, violence, racism and an anti-establishment feeling. Cinematographer Chris Menges's use of the Steadicam contributed to the fluid and gritty atmosphere of the play.

Secret Britain is a 2010 BBC documentary series presented by Matt Baker and Julia Bradbury which first aired on BBC One Sunday 15 August 2010 at 9:00pm. The series explores some of the United Kingdom's hidden corners such as deserted beaches and tumbling waterfalls, showcasing the very best of what the British countryside has to offer. The show focuses on a variety of areas of the British countryside, with a few minutes dedicated to each particular area of interest. Each of the segments is presented by either Matt or Julia, often being joined by a local expert or guide to explain more about the area. The full series will be released on DVD in January 2012 by Acorn Media UK

Fake Britain 2010

Fake Britain is a UK BBC consumer rights programme, currently presented by Matt Allwright since 2013, however the show was previously presented by Dominic Littlewood between 2010 to 2012. The programme airs weekdays in a daytime slot, however shortened down repeats are often shown in the primetime evening slot. The programme covers various aspects of counterfeiting and effects on consumers including dangerous tools, ineffective or dangerous medicines, shoddy goods sold under reputable names, documents used for identity theft.

Jump Britain 2005

Jump Britain is a 2005 documentary about free running. Directed by Mike Christie and produced by Carbon Media, it is a sequel to Channel 4's Jump London. Two of the three free runners from Jump London, Sébastien Foucan and Jérôme Ben Aoues, appear alongside the members of Urban freeflow, as they interact with numerous famous landmarks all over Britain. Another section of the documentary sees various members of Urban Freeflow go on a 'pilgrimage' to Lisses, France. The trip includes a visit to the famous Dame Du Lac. Free running is a physical discipline which grew from Parkour, led by David Belle. The free runners tackle some of the UK's most iconic sites including Edinburgh Castle and the Forth Rail Bridge in Scotland, the Giant's Causeway and Derry's walls in Northern Ireland, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle and the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. The original soundtrack was composed by Ian Masterson and Thomas Beach, and was released on iTunes, as well as appearing as an extra on the DVD release.

Booze Britain

Booze Britain was a fly-on-the-wall documentary television series produced by Granada that aired on British satellite TV channel Bravo in half-hour episodes which documented the binge drinking culture of various towns and cities in the United Kingdom. Typically, the series followed a group of friends as they indulge in an evening drinking heavily in various establishments usually in their own town or city, police officers fining and arresting people for various alcohol-related incidents and also paramedics who are called out to handle the consequences of drunkenness. The narration by Mark Womack provided alcohol-related statistics and comments on medical issues raised by the scenes depicted. In its second series, subtitled Binge Nation, they went to numerous places in the country. Notably, in one episode, it showed how the effects of alcohol can have someone's behaviour. The most watched episode, in Newquay depicted the events of a night out involving "The Tanks". It got out of hand when Sam drank a pint of urine, threw it up, only for Jonny to finish the remains.

Battlefield Britain 2004

Battlefield Britain is a 2004 BBC television documentary series about famous battles in the history of Great Britain. From Boudicca's destructive rebellion against the Romans to the incredible feats of The Few who saw off the Luftwaffe, these battles all had wide-reaching consequences and implications for the future of the British isles. The series is presented by father and son team Peter and Dan Snow with Peter explaining the battleplans of the generals while Dan explores the sites to give the perspective of the common soldier, sailors and airmen. The episodes also featured "interviews" with soldiers from both sides, re-enactments of the battles and computer generated scenes with bird eye views and blocks to show troop movement. In Australia, all eight episodes aired on SBS TV in its As It Happened history timeslot each Saturday at 7:30pm from 22 January until 12 March 2005.
